The IQ has a small footprint and has a self-emptying feature. However, if you wish to change floor levels on the map or create no-go zones, you'll need to manually reset it to do this, which is somewhat of a hassle.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation features however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing navigational system results in greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it is prone to get caught up on rug tassels. Its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.
During our tests, the IQ was adept at handling pet hair effectively, clearing huge amounts of debris from floors with no flooring and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective on shag carpet, which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering chair legs and tight spaces, as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved, but it recovered speed and was more efficient than the other robots we have tested.
The IQ is a more suitable choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge, and does a better job of moving itself over obstacles. If it encounters them it ceases to move and emits a loud sound so you can manually guide it through the obstacle before getting back to work.
Another excellent feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the floor type and level of mess. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to the desired area.
Single Room Mode is a great alternative if you have a small amount of furniture in the area you want to vacuum. The eufy can spend 30 minutes intensely cleaning the area that it's assigned to.
Edge Cleaning is another option that reduces the time that is spent on each area to 20 minutes. This will maximize battery life. By selecting this option the eufy can move in a spiral fashion, tackling corners and edges for a thorough clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range robot vacuum and a top performer on carpet. Its performance on carpets with no floor is also outstanding. It can pick up fine debris like rice easily and doesn't lose suction efficiency even as its dirt bin gets full. Its design is a breathable one and its air-sealed body captures allergens to keep your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin so you don't need any additional filters or a vacuum bag.
It's not quite as powerful as the more expensive models, but is still great for deep cleaning and tackling the toughest stains. Its two front cameras deliver live images to your smartphone, and it comes with one of the top obstacle avoidance systems we've seen.
